What we do
Books All Around is a national literacy initiative striving to make a difference in the lives of youth. By recruiting student and civic groups to implement literacy service projects in their communities, we get books to children that would otherwise not have them.
How we do it
Books All Around provides groups with the Literacy Action Guide. This is our own step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process of implementing a literacy service project. In addition to this guide, we also provide guidance and support to groups throughout the planning and implementation of their project.
The Books All Around Difference
While there are a number of organizations dedicated to combating illiteracy, Books All Around is unique in the following ways:
- We are a grassroots organization that requires local community support for every project - this ensure that communities get what they need for their children, not what we think they should have
- We do not just give out books, we provide literacy solutions that integrate books, strong community involvement, and on-going support
- From our senior leadership to our community volunteer, we involve young people in meaningful service that puts them in charge and incorporates service-learning, not just service
